sapphire pendant

Fabricated Sterling and sapphire. Approximately 3/8 inches.

This little pendant is for my granddaughter. It’s not her birthstone, but sapphire is the color of her beautiful eyes.  The bail and the three rivets holding it together are 14 karat gold. The rest is Sterling.

lapis pendent

Fabricated Sterling and lapis lazuli. Approximately 1 inch.

This is a brushed finish, giving it a bit of patina.  I thought it suited this piece well.

The image below shows the articulation.  I like to give the pieces movement.

This is the sketch I started with.

hanging garnet and aquamarine pendant

Fabricated silver, garnet and aquamarine beads.  Approximately 1 1/2 inches.

A derivative of an older design (see the post dated June 11).  This is a commissioned piece.  I think it works.

Out in the sunshine showing a bit of the stones’ depth.

One more, a close up.  All the pieces pivot on the rivet going through the bail.

belt and buckle

Sterling buckle, keeper, and leather belt.  Approximately 2.5 inches.  I’ve been out of commission for a bit.  Back in the workshop today for the first time in four months.  It felt really good.  The buckle was previously made, but I manufactured the keeper and cut the belt today.  Not bad for one eye!  Detail highlighting buckle, embellishment, and keeper.Reverse.  Here one can see the dimension and the embellishment. This is the full view of the buckle, belt and the two embellishments.  This can be custom fit to your dimensions.  Note there is only one hole in the belt.  $250

old world pendant

Forged Sterling pendant.  About 2 inches long.  It’s a single piece, with an added embellishment (a riveted jump ring).

I found an odd shaped scrap piece in my sweeps drawer and started hammering on it.  This is what came of it.

You can get an idea of its size here.  It’s almost 2/10 of an inch thick.

This is the reverse.

Here’s the detail of the jump ring.  I wasn’t thinking this would be for suspending it, rather, I just liked the look of it.

And two more.  Not much of a story with this one.  I was simply messing around with a form in my head and this is what it gave me.  I like it.

sleeping beauty turquoise pendant

Another variant of the turquoise shadow box theme.  This one is a little larger, and lighter (22g silver) than my previous versions (see the June 19 post below for one other).  This one is just under  1 1/4″ in diameter, and with the bail it’s just over 1 3/4 inches.  The bail articulates on a long rivet (going through the tube at the top of the disk).

The turquoise is especially fun on this one.  It’s a 9mm round cabochon of Sleeping Beauty turquoise.  The Sleeping Beauty turquoise comes only from a single mine in Arizona and is known for its vibrant sky blue color and absence of veining or webbing.  The stone used for this piece is in its natural form–no stabilization or dying.  It’s been sitting in storage since it was mined and cut during the 1970s.  I was pleased to build a setting around it.

This image shows the color and shape well.  A bit of the bail articulation is also visible.

The reverse.  It’s domed with the same radius as the front.

Here’s where it looks best.
